Hi Walter,

I’m going to have to abandon the Carousel action. Too many of my clients don’t like the way the auto wizzes back through all the auto-glide system.

I know this is because of the complicated scripting out of your control.

It’s a shame because it’s so quick and easy to use. I just wanted to mention it as a bit of feedback.

Kind regards,

Simon.

Try applying the Remove from RPL Action to the various parts of your
Carousel. It should work then.

Hmm. Fair to assume there’s a JavaScript error in the poll code, since Carousel passes the Jslint test on its own. If the poll uses the shortcut

for (i in someArray) ...

In its code anywhere, then that will blow up in any page that includes Prototype. Because this page also includes Scriptaculous, any errors that get hit within the effects will be silenced, which is probably why I didn’t see any errors in the console when I tried your page earlier.

Had another crack and the thing that seems to stop the carousel working is the poll widget which is an html item. When I delete the poll from the page the carousel works fine. Thanks alot for you help again

else on the same page. Remove the Carousel Action from it, and apply

At this point, if you click on the Carousel element, add a positive

Now remove the Auto-glide setting, and draw a Graphic box on the page.
Apply the Carousel Button Action to it, and give it some color so you

Get it while it’s hot. Much simpler application this time around. The entire mechanism has been re-worked, so you no longer have to group ANYTHING.

Draw a CSS-positioned layer on your page where you want the carousel effect to appear. Style it up to become the first pane of your carousel.

Duplicate this layer to make the next pane, and so forth until all of the panes are finished. (You may place these panes anywhere on or off the page, they will be removed from view when you publish.)

Apply the Carousel Action to the first pane.

Apply the Carousel Pane Action to all of the remaining panes.

(Optional) add tabs or buttons to control the effect with the Carousel Tab and Carousel Button Actions.

Publish.

You can have multiple Carousels on a page, as before, but instead of grouping the controls and the panes together to tell the controls which panes to affect, you simply choose your carousel using the Target picker in the Actions palette. This should make editing your page a lot easier.
