Just discovered Intaglio this week, was really thrilled as to the fact I have over 20 years of drawings that I could no longer use on my last 2 macs. I had used macDraw pro all those years in my carpenter, furniture, and cabinetry business and was upset at the fact I had to keep old computers around just to be able to use the MacDraw Pro software. I found it fairly easy to learn since i had the m.d. background. Really relieved, Thanks,

Hi,
don’t know if you’ve tried email@hidden
I just noticed that purgatorydesign.com contains a feedback button with that address.

Intaglio Review (7 Replies)

My humblest apologies for the messed up middle bit of my post. A tough read, and no idea how that occurred. The feedback is as I expected. A bunch of hard working graphics people struggling to get the perfect app. We all find different apps appealing for different reasons, but we all really need the basic tool set to be there, functioning, and dependable.
I had a brief flirtation with Vector Designer, love the workflow, and many clever features. Lack of Scale/Dimensions, and no feedback from the Dev killed it for me.
Intaglio is better, for my Tech needs, but Andy Dent put it best, “Orphanware” Hey Andy, I spent 25 years in S.A. so sympathise with the heat thing. Now back in NZ.
Cheers guys, and thanks for the kind responses.

I don’t have OS 10.7, but some who have upgraded from earlier OS’ have had problems with things not working. The following works in OS 10.6.1:

Copy the Excel document to the Clipboard.

Open Preview and choose New Document.

Copy and paste into Intaglio. The spreadsheet can now be edited.

Alternatively, try https://sheet.zoho.com/excelviewer

There is another detail I over looked last night.

All of the files have the Intaglio icon with the file name as you would expect. If Intaglio is not running and I double click on the file, the computer recognizes it as an Intaglio filer and launches.

If Intaglio is running already and I use the File/open command, these files are grayed out like they’re not accessible.

Thanks for all the energy.

Navigation

I’m looking for an alternative to Illustrator (which I’ve been using since the early 1990s), Intaglio ticks most of the boxes but I am having problems navigating around complicated drawings.

In Illustrator I organise my drawings into objects, groups and layers. In the layers pallet I can see them all, name them, select them, move them forward and back, move objects into and out of groups, between groups and make groups of subgroups. This is how I normally work and it allows me to build up and manipulate complicated layered drawings.

Intaglio has a layers pallet but it doesn’t show what’s in a layer. There is no overall view of the structure of the drawing. I can navigate around a simple drawing by clicking on things but it’s going to be very hit and miss in anything complicated. I am wondering if there is a way around this? Some other way of doing things?

Simon
