Hi Joe, thanks for such a quick response. The problem with previewing Flash elements in FW is something I’ve gotten used to, although it’s not ideal when designing.

With FW5 I’ve noticing that when you publish & then preview locally in a browser everything displays as it should but then the next time you do the same all of the Flash elements are not displayed. In other words every second preview behaves oddly (if that makes sense?). Sort of like now you see it - now you don’t.

Also no warnings about missing resources or any other errors.

Hi David,

There aren’t any problems with Flash as far as we know. The only thing
that is different is that there is no preview of the first frame in
the design view.

Were any of the Flash elements displaying when you previewed locally?
Did you receive any warnings when you published about files not being
found?

OK, I’ve been designing sites with Freeway since version 3 &
followed the upgrade path with each new release. Having just bought
a new iMac to replace my old G5 I took the plunge & upgraded to FW5
as I am now working in Leopard. Many of the sites I design
incorporate a substantial amount of Flash, particularly for
slideshow animations that load photos dynamically.

Last night a client emailed some amends they needed, so I opened the
legacy version in FW5, made the amends, published the site &
uploaded the new version to the server. On checking the site http://www.theupgroup.co.uk
to my horror NONE of the flash elements were displaying.

So tried a number of workarounds including re saving the file,
forced republish etc but still no joy. Ended up having to boot up
the old G5 & make the amends in FW4 & upload everything again. As a
professional designer this is not good!

I’ve done a quick search to see if this problem has been discussed
but turned up nothing. Does anybody know if there is a workaround
for this problem. I really don’t want to have to amend all of my
existing sites in FW4 each time a client needs updates.

If anybody can shed any light on this I’d really appreciate the help.

Thanks,
