adding a point along a path

How can I add a point not at the end of a path, but somewhere along the path ?

What you say I had understood but my question was else : I try to
show what happens :

that is a path : ––––––––––––– that is a point : o here is the place where I click with the path edit arrow + option
key : x here are the ghost points that I get : O

here my demo :

before :

  o––––––––––––––––––––o

after :

O O o–––––––x––––––––––––o

with more complex pathes I get sometimes but not always more ghost
points ; with previous selected points I get “selected” ghost points
(full, not hollow) ; I give you a screencopy to show you what I mean
but I don’t know if you can receivge it here :

That I have found because before your first answer I had tested all the possible combinations to add a point ;-) except the scissors !

What do you mean about the idea of a table with all the mouse-key combinations ?

I hadn’t found that tip. Points are usually added to paths with the pen tool. Could you make it more intuitive and/or add a tool tip somewhere?

The Freeway pen tool is driving me crazy. Sometimes adding a point can turn the colors inverted and sometimes anchor points apear without connections to to the object drawn. And when you add a curve point it doesn’t stay on the line and its anchour points is not aligned with the figure. Please Softpress do something about this feature.
