Trouble opening MacDraw Pro files
Just trying the demo version to verify ability to open MacDraw Pro files. Every file I’ve tried gives the response: Can’t complete this commmand. -23
Is this a limitation of the demo program? I am running MacOS X 10.5.2
Thanks.
Nick
19 Jun 2008, 7:10 pmThere aren’t any limitations to file import in demo mode. Error -23 is an OS error while opening the file. The most likely cause is that the resource fork of your files is missing. MacDraw Pro used both the data and resource forks of files, but non-Macintosh computers don’t always preserve the resource fork so it’s possible that has been stripped off when the file was archived. The chances are the files you’re using won’t open in MacDraw Pro anymore either.

20 Jun 2008, 1:13 amNick - thanks for your reply.
The files open up just fine in MacDraw Pro running on an older Mac computer with OS 9.1, so I wonder if there may be a problem copying the files on a flash drive used for Windows and Mac computers.

Yeah, that’s probably the problem. If the flash drive is formatted as a Windows drive such as FAT, they don’t know what resource forks are. Try Stuff-ing or a similar compression format on the Mac OS 9 computer, then transfer the file to the flash drive, and then uncompress on the Mac OS X computer (make sure you have the software to uncompress on that machine before you start).

20 Jun 2008, 10:31 pmGuys - Thanks! Stuffing and expanding the files worked brilliantly. I’ll be purchasing a registration code momentarily. I appreciate the help, and look forward to contributing to the forum in a more helpful manner in future.
