Laser Power
I know that this way off topic but has any body come up with this problem and has found a fix.
When I go to burn a CD/DVD from iTunes I get the following:
‘The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media.’
I have sent an e-mail through to support at Apple, so I’m just waiting for a reply. I’m using OSX 10.4.11.
When I get a reply from Apple, I’ll post it here.

Internal drive or external drive? If internal, sounds like a bad drive. If external, sounds like it could be a connection problem if it’s USB, or a bad drive.

Its the internal MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846. In the user groups on the Apple site, it seems to a problem that has been going on for some time, both with internal and external drives. Again, from the user group, some have had the drive replaced and they still get the problem. The feeling is that it is to do with iTunes.

If that is true then it’s a timing issue. Definately something that Apple would have to come up with a workaround for if it is iTunes at fault.
This may seem like a dumb question, but have you tried more than one brand of disk? They aren’t all the same quality necessarily which could cause a format delay.

I’ve tried 3 makes of CD’s and all show the same problem. Got an answer from Apple, and that is to start burning a disc at the slowest speed and work on up through the speeds till I get the problem again, then go back one to the speed that works.
One thing, Apple still have not answered my question. Why is it doing it??
