[Pro] Problem creating lists

Go ahead and put an ugly hard return after each line in your list (and after the paragraph before the list, too. Select the four “paragraphs” of your list, and press the indent button in the Inspector (list segment) to mark those as your list items.

Now if you want to create a style that will allow that list to tuck up next to the preceding paragraph, you may do so in the Styles palette. Enter ul in the Tag field, and give it a name you’ll remember in the Name field. Change the Space Before property to 0 or something small, and then apply that style to your entire list (quadruple-click in the list somewhere to select the entire thing). You may still need to change the Space After property of the preceding paragraph to get the inter-paragraph spacing the way you want it to be.

The thing to remember is that a list cannot be a child of a paragraph. They are each block-level tags, you can think of a list as a special type of paragraph. They have to be peers, sitting at the same hierarchical level as one another. (Now if you want to get pedantic, a list item [li] may itself contain a paragraph or more, but a paragraph may not contain a list.)

I’ve only just started using Freeway, I’m trying to create a list and I’m using the Freeway manual but my list doesn’t look anything it’s supposed to :-(

I have a paragraph, which has a style applied to it, I have 6 lines in it, all separated by soft returns. I only want the last 4 lines to all have the same bullet and be indented.

When I select the text, the list applies itself to all 6 lines , indents all 6 but only puts a bullet on the first line.

Am I doing something wrong here?

How do I fix the problem without an ugly hard return?

Thanks

Heather
