Sandisk camera card
Completely off-topic but nonetheless digital…
I have a 4gb Sandisk Ultra compact flash card for my Sony slr.
I notice that when I delete all the images via the Mac (after download, say) that the card only offers 3gb and 700+ kb is “being used”.
I suspect this is one of those .trash things which you can see if you stick the card in a PC - the trash seems to save what you’ve just deleted (why I have no idea!!) But this is not visible on a Mac.
How do I make sure my card is properly wiped clean and my 4gb (ok, 3.74gb) made available?

I’m not happy to let the Mac delete images from the card, so I always delete them in the camera. I also use the camera to reformat the card before an important shoot or trip.
I think reformatting in-camera occasionally is the best way to maintain card health.

Format it in the camera; very important for any card/camera combo; do it every time!

Trust me, it’s very far from unecessary
