transparency in gradients

Is there a way to make a gradient 50% transparent? I would like to place a transparent gradient over another object but the transparency tool is inactive. I have tried using different Blend combinations, but they alter the color of the other object. If there is a simple solution, I would be happy to hear about it

Hi. Sure it´s possible but not for all involved gradient colors at once. Tick your gradient to make it active now find the “Solid Color tab”.
