Liquid layouts without inline DIVs

Hello everyone

Some people on this list have been creating liquid layouts by using inline DIVs and floating them left and right. I think there is an easier way. See this page:

http://www.spurdance.co.uk/freeway/fluidlayouts.html

By the way, this is a new website and I will be adding to it when I get the chance.

My method doesn’t use inline DIVs at all - I just draw columns directly on the page. Isn’t that the same thing?

Anyway, please take a look at my examples and tell me what you think.

Excellent! Except for one thing.

Well, maybe two things… a header and a footer. The method you outline works well for horizontal flexibility. You can try it with relative units as well. However, without floats you can’t clear items above or below the columns.
